France’s Madgic Acquires Majority Stake in APC Kids

APC Studios, founded by Laurent Boissel and Emmanuelle Guilbart, is selling its majority stake in APC Kids to French media group Madgic as it continues to streamline its business and focus on international scripted content production and distribution. APC’s current slate includes APC Studios-produced shows Wolf, Obituary
(two seasons) and The Light in the Hall (two seasons), which sit alongside third-party properties such as Keeping Faith, The Unusual Suspects, Pandore, Requiem For Selina, Boglands, Icebreaker and L’Eclipse.

Madgic, headed by Jean-Michel Spiner, will take control of the successful children’s distribution company, which also owns animation studio Zephyr Animation, with Lionel Marty continuing to own the rest of the company’s shares. Marty will remain as CEO of APC Kids and Zephyr Animation with David Sauerwein continuing as Producer at Zephyr Animation, which he co-founded.

Emmanuelle Guilbart and Laurent Boissel, Joint CEOs and Joint Founders of APC Studio, commented, “The past 10 years of working with Lionel and David to build APC Kids and then Zephyr has been a fun and exciting journey, but as the television landscape continues to evolve, we have decided that now if the right time for us to focus on our core business of making and selling international scripted content. It is testament to the success of APC Kids and Zephyr that a company of the caliber of kids’ content expert Madgic is now taking over from us just as APC Kids is set to start of new chapter of its development.”

Marty added, “I have loved working with Laurent and Emmanuelle on the growth of APC Kids since its inception and am proud of the business we have grown into, but we are excited for the next chapter. Aligning with a group that already owns and operates successful studios in the kids and animation space is an exciting prospect and we look forward to working with Jean-Michel Spiner, Thibaut Chatel, Guillaume Galliot and team.”

Madgic was formed in 2022 when 2 Minutes and Label Anim merged, creating a group offering a wide range of production and audiovisual services across animated series, feature film and documentaries.

The acquisition of the majority stake in APC Kids is a further step into Madgic Group’s vertical integration, adding a distribution arm for children’s content to it business. The addition of Zephyr Animation also adds to its production pool consisting of 2 Minutes, Label Anim and Label News, which now includes two new animation series aimed at the international market: Lana Longbeard and Mogu & Perol.

Being part of our existing infrastructure will give them access to additional technical and financial expertise in this sector,” said Madgic’s Jean-Michel Spiner.

The acquisition of APC Kids comes at a time when the Madgic group is already active in marketplace: on June 25, the animated feature film Little Amelie, co-produced by 2 Minutes, Maybe Movies and Ikki Films, will be released in French theaters following its Official Selection engagements at the Cannes Film Festival and Annecy International Animation Film Festival; on January 28, 2026, the 3D feature film Legendaries, co-produced by 2 Minutes and Pan-Européenne will be released; animated series Moodz, made by 2 Minutes for Toon Factory, is airing on French public channel France 5; animated series Rabbit Academy, co-produced by 2 Minutes and Akkord Film for ARD 1, is launching; and in 2026 The Scarlet Rose animated series, co-produced by Label Anim and 2 Minutes, is due to air on Canal+.
