The globally popular Pokémon franchise characters are getting a fresh stop-motion makeover in a new series produced by acclaimed British studio Aardman. Fans today got their first look at the project, which has been revealed as Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu. The teaser reveals that the show, first announced in December 2024 is set to launch in 2027.
The spot focuses on a lone Wooloo (introduced in Gen 8 in Pokémon Sword & Shield), a creature who bears a resemblance to the fluffy white flock members in Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep titles. As the Wooloo munches in its picturesque mountain meadow, viewers will catch the tips of Pichu’s ears and he top feathers of Sirfetch’d (as well as his fearsome Leek!) over the meadow wall, as well as cartoony effects popping up as the duo get into unknown “misadventures” off camera.
The logline reads: Sirfetch’d and Pichu are front and center as the heroes of the show, which is set in a region Trainers have explored before — one that is very close to Aardman’s heart. The series will offer a unique look at the Pokémon world, told from the perspective of Pokémon, with the signature Aardman sense of character, comedy and craft.
