Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Parks and Recreation, The Super Mario Bros. Movie) has been confirmed to reprise his role as the binge eating cartoon cat in the upcoming sequel to The Garfield Movie. The 2024 fully-animated feature grossed more than $257 million in global box office, release by Sony Pictures.
Based on the comic strip created by Jim Davis, who sold the rights to prodco Alcon Entertainment, The Garfield Movie introduced Garfield’s long-lost father (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson), who enlists his kitten and canine pal Odie on a heist mission that takes them far from their comfortable house pet lives. The voice cast also featured Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Harvey Guillén, Snoop Dogg and more. The animation was provided by DNEG.
The untitled Garfield sequel is being produced by Alcon’s co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson alongside John Cohen, Steven P. Wegner and Pratt. Prime Focus Studios will co-produce with Alcon, and DNEG Animation will again handle animation production. Jim Davis and Bridget McMeel (Amuse) will executive produce.
Pratt is represented by UTA, Rise and Sloan Offer.
