“Ketchup is single-handedly saving the Looney Tunes: Mr. Ketchup, we salute you!” said actor Paul Sheer, who moderated today’s Coyote Vs. Acme panel at Comic-Con. Sheer was referring to the fact that indie distributor Ketchup, which also released this year’s The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, saved the movie from sitting on the shelf and plans to release the movie which features Will Forte, Eric Bauza and Martha Kelly, who were also part of the panel. It was revealed that the movie will be released on Aug. 28, 2026.
Directed by David Green, the movie centers on Wyle E. Coyote’s legal battle against the Acme Corporation for all of the useless tools he used in his battle against the speedy Road Runner. Looney Tunes fans were rightfully upset when Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and his team decided to shelf the $70 million movie to take a tax write-off. Forte and Bauza mentioned that it was because of the fans that the movie found a new life through Ketchup. Bauza, said that the movie was made “without the use of A.I. and basketball players” when he was asked how the movie was different from Space Jam!
Forte noted that he shared the initial takes on his scenes with a Wile E. Coyote puppet performed by puppeteer David Barclay (The Dark Crystal). After the first few takes, the puppet was exchanged with a tennis ball, which was later transformed into an animated version of the Looney Tunes character in post.

Green said he worked six years on the movie: He began the project at the end of 2019, and spent 2020 developing the script with Oscar nominated Samy Burch based on the 1990 New Yorker humor piece by Ian Frazier. (James Gunn and Jeremy Slater also have story credit). The audience was told to expect many cartoon cameos in the movie, including Bugs, Daffy, and more obscure characters such as the cartoon version of actor Peter Lorre (which appeared in shorts such as Hair-Raising Hare and Hollywood Steps Out). Among the various animated cameos spotted in the trailer were Foghorn Leghorn, the Roadrunner, the Tasmanian Devil, Granny and Lorre.
