French-Kosovar Initiative Anibar Pro – Genesis Brings Young Animators Center Stage

Anibar International Animation Festival has launched a new initiative dedicated to empowering young animation talent: Anibar Pro – Genesis. Established in partnership with the French Institute in Kosovo and supported by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the French Embassy in Kosovo, the program aims to lay strong and sustainable foundations for young creators in the animation, multimedia and the gaming industries.

Anibar Pro – Genesis opens a new window of opportunity for young creators, offering them a space to develop through entrepreneurship training, artistic growth and international exchange. The program was officially presented on Tuesday, July 15, during the second day of the Anibar festival in Peja.

Around 20 animation studios from France are present in Peja this week to engage in a wide range of professional activities with emerging animators, including Genesis Pitching Sessions, discussions on mentorship, ethical storytelling, sustainability in the industry and meetings with animators and animation professionals.

Additionally, over the coming days, 18 emerging animators will present their film projects. The winners will be selected by a professional jury with notable experience from the cinematography and animation industry.

“This is not just support for the sake of support, because as we know, film is culture itself. And this is important because young people can establish contacts with professionals in the field. We are also talking about identity, and it is essential for this identity to grow and develop in this young state,” said Oliver Guérot, French Ambassador to Kosovo. The diplomat went on to emphasize that France is expanding its presence in Kosovo and the region by focusing on arts and culture, and will continue to support youth in growing and bringing to life their creativity.

Vullnet Sanaja, Executive Director of Anibar, said that this collaboration is a remarkable achievement, paving the way for a more sustainable and visionary future for young creators in Kosovo.

Anibar Pro – Genesis also strengthens the work done for years by Animation Academy based in Prishtina, helping to offer new opportunities for animation enthusiasts and contributing to the
development of a thriving creative industry in the country.

Anibar Animation Festival runs July 14-20 in Peja, Kosova. More information is available at anibar.org.
