A24 and CMC Pictures announce an English-language version of Ne Zha 2 — the acclaimed Chinese animated box office phenomenon — will be arriving in theaters across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand starting August 22. The new dub will feature Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, and will be presented in IMAX, 3D and other premium large formats.

Synopsis: A rebellious young boy, Ne Zha, is feared by the gods and born to mortal parents with wild, uncontrolled powers. Now he’s faced with an ancient force intent on destroying humanity, he must grow up to become the hero the world needs.
Written and directed by filmmaker Yang Yu (a.k.a. Jiaozi), Ne Zha 2 is the highest-grossing animated film of all time, the highest-grossing non-English language film ever, and already ranks as the fifth highest-grossing film overall. Already the highest-rated animated film of the year on Rotten Tomatoes and one of the highest-rated films of 2025 on Letterboxd, critics have praised it as “animated cinema on a scale rarely seen” and “a technical marvel that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible.
