The third annual Fireflies West fundraising bicycle ride to benefit cancer research is set for Sept. 24-29 with plenty of support from the animation and visual effects industries.
The event will feature film directors, production, postproduction and advertising executives departing San Francisco on Sept. 24 for a six-day, 550-mile ride to Los Angeles along the coast. It was founded as a sister event to the Fireflies event in the French Alps.
Riding this year are folks from Ridley Scott and Associates, Believe Media, The Mill, Zoic Studios, Humble, Union Editorial, Deutsch and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
This year’s ride will benefit the Comprehensive Cancer Center at City of Hope Hospital, and is looking to exceed last year’s mark of $50,000. Contributions can be made online at www.cityofhope.org/fireflieswest.
