MIPCOM: Aardman Launches New CG Series

Is the world ready for characters called Soppy Street Rappers, Bickering Babes, Nose-picker, Ninja Handyman and Dr. Inosaur? The folks at Bristol-based toon shop Aardman and DECODE Ent. are certainly hoping so as they announce plans to launch their new co-production featuring the eccentric characters at MIPCOM.

“It is very exciting for us to be co-producing a show with such a creative and experienced company like DECODE,” says Aardman’s head of broadcast Miles Bullough. “It can only help to strengthen the appeal of the show, particularly internationally.”

The 13×11 series will use a mix of CGI animation and 2D Flash and will bring together a cast of madcap characters in a rapid-fire, high-energy broken comedy format for the 6-11 age group. The show will debut on CiTV and Canadian specialty network Teletoon.
