‘Tintin’ and ‘Happy Feet Two’ Dance Onto Home Video

The world’s most famous boy reporter and the return of the light-footed penguins headline a strong week for animated home video releases.

Steven Spielberg directs and Peter Jackson produces The Adventures of Tintin (Paramount, $30.99 DVD, $40.99 Blu-ray and DVD combo pack, $49.99 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD combo pack), which adapts the beloved comic-strip character to animation using mo-cap techniques. The film was a mild hit in the United States, but a huge smash in the rest of the world — so here’s a chance for those who missed it to see what all the fuss is about.

Happy Feet Two (Warner Bros., $28.98 DVD, $35.99 Blu-ray and DVD combo pack, $44.99 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD combo pack) is the sequel to the Oscar-winning animated feature about a dancing penguin, and reunites original cast members Elijah Wood and Robin Williams with director George Miller.

Fans of Wallace and Gromit will be certain to pick up Wallace & Gromit’s World of Invention (Lionsgate, $14.98 DVD, $14.99 Blu-ray), which collects the BBC science show starring the stop-motion duo.

On the U.S. side of the pond, there is the most-recent addition to the hit Cartoon Network series with The Looney Tunes Show: Season One, Vol. 3 (Warner Bros., $14.97), as well as Scooby-Doo: Music of the Vampire (Warner Bros., $19.98 DVD, $24.98 Blu-ray and DVD combo pack).

From anime-land, there are two big releases: One Piece: Collection Five (Funimation, $34.98) and Bleach Box Set 12 (VIZ Media, $49.95).

The preschooler set is sure to dig Timmy Time: Timmy Finds Treasure (HIT, $14.98). And for children of the 1980s, there’s the long-awaited release of Pac-Man: The Complete First Season (Warner Bros., $26.99).

There’s also a number of new collections out, including: SpongeBob SquarePants Triple Feature (Paramount, $19.99),  4 Kid Favorites: The Jetsons (Warner Bros., $14.99), 4 Kid Favorites: The Flintstones (Warner Bros., $14.99), 4 Kid Favorites: Cartoon Network Hall of Fame (Warner Bros., $14.99) and 4 Kid Favorites: Ben 10 Alien Force (Warner Bros., $14.99).
