MPC NY Debuts First In-House Short for Easter

Acclaimed vfx house MPC’s New York facility has produced its first-ever, in-house animated short film: Sunny and Steve – Enjoy the Sweets. Written and directed by staff talent Bill Dorais and Ty Coyle, the Easter-themed short centers on a burly office worker with a sweet tooth and a surly Easter bunny who will go to any lengths to protect his basket of seasonal treats.

Enjoy the Sweets is a blend of traditional stop-motion techniques, the latest in animation technology and some of MPC’s blockbuster vfx magic — on a smaller scale, of course. The team leveraged its character design skills and proprietary tools, including a state-of-the-art fur pipeline, to create the stars and their environs from scratch. The animation’s distinctive look was achieved with a ’70s-era color palette and a set and puppets full of minute details.
