Reliance Takes Stake in Prime Focus

India-based Reliance Group has bought a major stake in Prime Focus and will merge its visual-effects and media-services company with Prime Focus to create what will be the world’s largest media services group.

The new company — coming shortly after Prime Focus acquired Oscar-winning VFX house Double Negative — will employ more than 5,500 people at more than 20 locations around the world offering visual effects, stereo 3D conversion, animation and cloud-based digital media solutions.

Namit Malhotra will be the executive chairman and global CEO of Prime Focus.
