Sony Developing Animated ‘Spider-Man’ Feature

There’s been plenty of drama at Sony this week after hackers paralyzed the studio and released online tons of confidential data and communications. Among the tidbits were several Spider-Man-related tidbits, including an animated feature version.

The animated feature was in development, with The LEGO Movie team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller attached as producers. The movie is a comedy.

The emails also revealed that talks occurred between Sony and Disney that would have seen Marvel Studios produce a new slate of Spider-Man movies with Sony retaining creative control, marketing and distribution. Other discussions included allowing the webslinger to appear in Marvel’s upcoming Captain America: Civil War feature.

Those talks have broken down, with Sony continuing to develop its own slate of Spider-Man movies, including spin-offs for the villainous Venom, The Secret Six and a feature focused on the women in Spider-Man’s life.
