Nick Jr.’s ‘Shimmer and Shine’ Premieres Aug. 24

Preschoolers will be making some enchanting new friends next month as CG animated series Shimmer and Shine has its premiere on Nick and Nick Jr. August 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT. The 20-episode show follows twin genies-in-training, Shimmer and Shine, who grant wishes for their friend Leah that tend to result in surprising mishaps — but the trio always manages to make the mistakes turn out great.

Shimmer and Shine is built around a social-emotional curriculum, highlighting the importance of teamwork, resilience and overcoming obstacles. The show is created by Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz, who served as post-production supervisor for Nick’s Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go!, and is produced at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank. An international TV rollout will begin this fall following the U.S. premiere.
