‘A Minecraft Movie’ Goes into 3rd Weekend on Top of the Charts, ‘King of Kings’ on Track for $45M by Easter

Chicken Jockey uproar notwithstanding, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ A Minecraft Movie is still the top game at the domestic box office. Based on Mojang’s bestselling sandbox game, the pic looks to edge out Ryan Coogler’s Sinners (Warner) for a $44 million-plus weekend — with a chance at $50M according to some box office watchers. The live-action/CG adventure is playing at 4,032 in its third weekend.

Projected to come in at No. 3 is the fully animated faith-based indie The King of Kings, from Angel Studios. The story of Jesus Christ via Charles Dickens took in $6M on Good Friday, eyeing a $17M second weekend, and is expected to bring its domestic total to $45M before Easter Monday.
