Today, Paramount Animation debuted the official trailer for Smurfs, which will bring Peyo’s comic-book creations back to the big-screen for a fully-animated adventure on July 18. The preview features a new soundtrack song by voice star and producer Rihanna, titled “Friend of Mine,” which is available to pre-save here.
The CG-animated family feature also features the voices of James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña and Marshmello, with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
Synopsis: When Papa Smurf (Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.
Smurfs is directed by Chris Miller (Puss in Boots, Shrek the Third) and written by Emmy winner Pam Brady (South Park; Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken). The film is produced by Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, Robyn Rihanna Fenty and Ryan Harris, p.g.a.
