Riding their lucrative Paramount Global deal, the South Park crew will continue to punch up at the Trump administration when the series’ 27th season picks back up next Wednesday, August 6 (streaming the next day on Paramount+). An encore of the season premiere will air tomorrow (July 30) as part of a pre-planned one-week hiatus.
Season 27 kicked off with a bang, with premiere ep “Sermon the ‘Mount'” featuring a segment in which Trump complains about the size of his genitals in an official painting, and is then shut down by his bedmate, Satan, who drives the gag home with his own complaints. The episode dug at Paramount Global’s relationship with the current administration, as the FCC is in the process of approving its merger with Skydance — the source of much recent consternation for series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone before their streaming and TV deals jelled.
In the new promo for S27, Episode 2, Trump is seen coming on to Satan at a black tie dinner and getting his roving hand slapped away by the Prince of Darkness. We also see Cartman blowing up at fellow South Park Elementary student Bebe, telling her, “you hate America and love abortions,” backed up by PC Principal (who is now “Power Christian” Principal in light of the season’s resurrection of Jesus), and Mr. Mackey riding along with ICE.
With the new Paramount deal making Parker and Stone billionaires, the notorious toon duo are well positioned to keep the current events jabs coming all season long.
