The Russians Love Their ‘Ice Age’ Too!

The number-one movie at the Russian box office in 2012 was the Fox/Blue Sky blockbuster toon Ice Age: Continental Drift, with $50.1 million in ticket sales. The summer release, which was No. 14 at the U.S. box office for the past year, earned about $161.3 million in the U.S. Like the other three previous movies in the franchise, the pic didn’t fare as well with the critics and during the year-end award season, but it surely resonates with international audiences. The pic has made over $875.3 million globally.

According to the Russian trade publication Film Business Today, other top imports included DreamWorks’ Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted with $49.4 million, Disney’s The Avengers with $43.68 million and Warner Bros.’ The Hobbit with $26.58 million.
