Cinematheque Hosts ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Screening & Panel

The Art Directors Guild in conjunction with the American Cinematheque are hosting a special panel and screening of the 2001 popular anime title, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (original title: Tengoku no tobira).

This futuristic animated feature from Japan that blends film noir, spaghetti western, Hong Kong style action, and much more into a remarkable work of film art. Directed by Shinichirô Watanabe, the film finds the bounty-hunting Bebop crew on the track of a cold-blooded criminal who has releases a deadly virus upon the masses.

The event is planned for Sunday, August 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Aero Theatre (1328 Montana Ave., Santa Monica, CA) and will include a panel featuring director Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians) and voice actor Steve Blum (Transformers), moderated by Production Designer and ADG Film series founder and co-chair John Muto.
